WEBINAR: Advancing Robotic Surgery with SRC Accreditation

Share on Social:

Robotic surgery is revolutionizing healthcare, and it continues to be SRC’s fastest-growing accreditation program. As it expands across multiple surgical specialties, robotic-assisted procedures are redefining precision, efficiency, and patient outcomes. Compared to traditional open or laparoscopic methods, robotic-assisted surgery offers minimally invasive treatment with unmatched accuracy. Smaller incisions, less blood loss, reduced scarring, and faster recovery times—these benefits are setting a new standard for surgical excellence.

As hospitals and healthcare systems worldwide embrace this technology, SRC is at the forefront, partnering with providers to elevate their robotic surgery programs through our comprehensive accreditation process.

Watch our November 6th webinar, Advancing Robotic Surgery with SRC Accreditation, to hear from leading experts who shared how SRC accreditation has strengthened their robotic surgery programs, improved patient outcomes, and advanced their commitment to excellence.

In our recent webinar, you’ll hear from leading surgeons in robotic surgery, joined by an SRC inspector moderating the discussion.

With a career rooted in nursing and healthcare administration, Sue Hansen, RN, BSN, MSN has developed a strong foundation in surgical services, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), and outpatient care. Ms. Hansen has held numerous leadership roles, including Regional Director and Surgical Services Manager of a large regional hospital system, where she played a key role in the planning, construction, and successful launch of multiple ASCs. Her experience spans surgical services, critical care, outpatient surgery, and healthcare quality. Ms. Hansen is one of SRC’s primary inspectors conducting facility assessment visits for SRC accreditation, where she provides evaluations, consultations, education, and improvement strategies for SRC’s participants.

Nikolaos Plevris, MD, PhD is an expert in minimally invasive gynecologic procedures leveraging robot-assisted technologies in the operating room. He achieved SRC accreditation as a Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery in 2023, and is a consultant OBGYN at Metropolitan General Hospital in Athens, Greece. Dr. Plevris specializes in robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery and gynecological oncology. Dr. Plevris completed his medical training at the Medical School of Athens, then furthered his knowledge through a fellowship in Gynecological Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery in the United Kingdom. A champion for better patient care, Dr. Plevris was determined to bring robotic surgery to Greece, providing his countrymen and women with better options for minimally invasive surgeries. He is recognized as a Proctor for Intuitive, the manufacturing company of the DaVinci robotic surgical system. As an Intuitive Proctor, Dr. Plevris is qualified to supervise and evaluate other surgeons on the use of the DaVinci robot in surgical procedures.

This commitment to expand access to advanced training on robotic-assisted procedures has culminated in the creation of the Robotic Surgical Excellence in Gynecology (R-SEGA) Advanced Workshops. Held twice in Greece, Dr. Plevris serves as the Scientific Director of the R-SEGA workshops that are designed to train surgeons around the world with extensive practice and hands-on advanced training with the DaVinci robot as well as surgical techniques. In these 3-day workshops, participants engage in rigorous, hands-on sessions designed to match their level of expertise and ensure mastery of the robotic procedures. As the visionary behind this workshop and Director of the 1st Gynecological Clinic – Department of Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery at Metropolitan General, Dr. Plevris shares:
“Our mission is to offer participants a hands-on, tailored curriculum that ensures extensive familiarity with robotic surgical systems. We aim to empower every participant with the skills and knowledge to excel in robotic gynecology.”

Additional areas of expertise include:

  • Complex gynecologic surgery
  • Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery
  • Robot-assisted gynecological surgery

Yitzhack Asulin, MD, FACS, FACOG is a pioneer and leader in minimally invasive surgical techniques and one of the world’s most experienced gynecologic robotic surgeons. He has taught extensively in the area of minimally invasive surgery and trained a large number of surgeons using robotic surgery technology.

He is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  After graduating from Saint George’s University School of Medicine, Dr. Asulin completed an OB/GYN residency from Stamford Hospital / Columbia University college of physicians and surgeons in Stamford, Connecticut.

Dedicating his entire career to the advancement of robotic and minimally invasive surgery, over the past 20 years, Dr. Asulin led and directed multiple robotic surgery programs in New Jersey. He served as the chairman of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ObGyn) at both Hudson Regional Hospital, and HUMC at Pascack Valley Hospital. He also served as Chief Surgical Officer as well as the first program director of the ObGyn residency program at Saint Mary Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey.

Currently the chief of the Institute for Robotic Surgery at Hudson Regional University Hospital as well as the director of GYN Robotic Surgery at Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, New Jersey, Dr. Asulin also serves as the head of the Center of Endometriosis medicine.

He is accredited by SRC as the first Elite Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery in the US and is named Castle Connolly TOP Doctor for many years.

With several thousand successful robotic surgeries, Dr. Asulin has extensive experience in treating complex and challenging cases of uterine fibroids, pelvic organ prolapse, and endometriosis, utilizing robotic surgery technology.

Additional areas of expertise include the treatment of:

  • Reflux disease
  • Esophageal dysmotility
  • Hernias
  • Gallbladder disease
