SRC Launches an International BSCOE Program SRC launched its Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence® (BSCOE) program for international hospitals, freestanding outpatient centers and surgeons in June. Programs across the world can now test themselves against the “Gold Standard” for bariatric surgery excellence and obtain a designation that represents quality and a commitment to excellence that was previously reserved for U.S. programs. Consumers, health plans and global employers will benefit from SRC’s industry-leading, evidence-based medicine approach that uses a specially designed patient outcomes database — BOLD™ — to collect, track and measure data on bariatric patients across the United States and now in countries throughout the world. BOLD creates the framework for stratifying risk factors and establishes a platform to perform basic research to help improve clinical outcomes and ensure patients receive safe and effective bariatric surgery. SRC’s international BSCOE program also includes site inspection verification of the bariatric surgery centers. The international BSCOE designation assures consumers, health plans and global employers that bariatric surgery services offered abroad share the key foundational components of the highly successful ASMBS Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence program administered by SRC in the United States.
