Locate a Bariatric Center of Excellence
SRC administers five center of excellence (COE) programs for the bariatric and metabolic surgery specialty. Four are country-specific programs that are managed on behalf of professional societies in the US and Canada, Brazil, India and Mexico. Surgeons and hospitals in these countries are eligible to participate in their society’s program.
The International Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery (ICE) program was created by SRC to evaluate surgeons and hospitals located in countries that do not have their own program. More specifically, surgeons and hospitals in the US and Canada, Brazil, India and Mexico must apply through their country’s program, not through the ICE program.
More than 1,100 bariatric surgeons and 600 facilities worldwide are currently designated or approved for provisional status through one of the COE programs that SRC administers.
