Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) is an independent, nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors comprised of representatives from all bariatric surgery industry stakeholders. The Board determines organizational policy and provides overall governance and oversight of SRC. Members serve staggered three-year terms.
An Executive Committee, consisting of four members of the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer, provides operation oversight.
The Bariatric Surgery Review Committee (BSRC) consists exclusively of experienced, respected and actively practicing bariatric surgeons representing both private practice and academic institutions. The committee evaluates applicants to the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence® program that SRC administers on behalf of the ASMBS and helps formulate program requirements and guidelines. The BSRC also provides clinical opinions on the evolution and administration of the Bariatric Outcomes Longitudinal Database℠ (BOLD℠). Dr. David Provost, medical director of the Bariatric Center at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton, is chairman of the BSRC. Members serve three-year terms.
The International Bariatric Surgery Review Committee (IBSRC), comprised of top bariatric surgeons from around the world, governs and reviews applications to SRC’s International Centers of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery (ICE) program. The IBSRC provides recommendations for ICE implementation and makes any necessary changes to ICE requirements and interpretive notes to ensure universal applicability. The IBSRC is organized into three regional committees: Latin American, European and Asian-Pacific. All are overseen by the chairman of the IBSRC, Dr. Raul Rosenthal, a bariatric surgeon at Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida. Members serve three-year terms.
The Research Advisory Committee (RAC), comprised of physicians and thought leaders in bariatric surgery research, guides the efforts of SRC’s Research division related to the utilization of BOLD. The RAC is led by Dr. Eric DeMaria, vice chair and chief of network general surgery at Duke University Medical Center, and includes the chairs of the Data Access and Data Dissemination Committees.
SRC's executive team oversees day-to-day operations for the company and its core divisions:
