Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Gary Pratt assisted in the startup of SRC and has served as CEO since its inception in 2003. He has spent a majority of his career in the healthcare and information technology industries, successfully launching seven companies and selling four of them. Mr. Pratt also served as a partner in the nation’s sixth-largest accounting firm and president of a division of Waste Management, a Fortune 500 company. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, with a degree in business administration.
Neil E. Hutcher, MD, FACS (neil NULL.hutcher null@null surgicalreview NULL.org)
Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Clinical Quality and Compliance
Dr. Neil Hutcher is an accomplished surgeon and a widely recognized leader in the advancement of surgical specialties, especially as it relates to patient education and advocacy on the federal and state levels. He began practicing medicine in Richmond in 1973 and, prior to joining SRC, held the position of Managing Director at Commonwealth Surgeons. Dr. Hutcher has served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at both the Medical College of Virginia and McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center. He is also a past president of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Dr. Hutcher received his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where he also completed a residency in general surgery and specialty fellowship training in transplant surgery.

General Counsel and Vice President, Legal Affairs
Michael Hartney has nearly 25 years of legal experience, representing clients in matters related to healthcare and corporate law, and associated litigation. Prior to joining SRC, he served as the company’s outside legal counsel. Through his private practice, Hartney has also represented the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery since 2002. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. Hartney is a member of the California State Bar and manages SRC’s San Diego office.

Director, Information Technology
Pam Adams has more than 17 years experience in software development and system design. Prior to joining the company in 2006, Pam worked for Peopleclick as a Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead. In addition, she served as a Programmer/Analyst for Quintiles and as a Software Engineer for Nortel. She obtained an associate degree in Computer Programming from Wake Technical Community College.
Ferrell Drewry (ferrell NULL.drewry null@null surgicalreview NULL.org)
Senior Director of Research
Ferrell Drewry has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry working with clinical information systems, SAS programming and biostatistics. He specializes in using data from electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems for clinical trials and comparative effectiveness research. Prior to joining SRC, Ferrell was Chief Information Officer and Vice President, Biometrics, at Clinsys Clinical Research and Chief Information Officer at INC Research. Ferrell holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Northern Colorado and an MSBA with a concentration in Management Information Sciences from Colorado State University.

Senior Director, Marketing and Communications
Bruce Kennedy brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, branding and corporate development to SRC. Prior to joining the company, Bruce served as Assistant Vice President of Duke University Health System, where he directed marketing operations, strategy, implementation and creative development for Duke Medicine. He also started MarketMouth Communications, a full-service marketing and communications firm, after a number of years in the traditional and Internet advertising industries. Bruce received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Syracuse University and master’s degree in psychology from City University of New York.

Director, Product Development
Mike Warthen brings more than 20 years of experience as an electronics engineer and healthcare chaplain. He previously served as the Bariatric Program Specialist for FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital and held several positions in business development and marketing for U.S. Bariatric. Mike is a board certified chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains. He received his bachelor’s degree in applied science from Troy State University and master’s degree in divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
